Submitting a new product to Coded is a simple and easy process that takes around 5 minutes to complete. Before beginning, please make sure that you have:
- Created and confirmed your Coded account. Please note that your Coded account can sign you in to every Coded service; and
- Submitted your current tax information. This only needs to be done once until the information changes.
When you arrive at the Add a New Product page in the Coded Developers dashboard, you will be asked if you wish to upload "Stock Photography" or "Anything Else." "Anything Else" includes vector graphics, website templates, InDesign templates, and "anything else" that is not a stock photo. Click on the type of product you would like to add.
Submitting Stock Photography
When you submit stock photography to Coded, you are able to add photos in batches and then add descriptions and tags after the product has been reviewed. We do this to simplify the review process and to make things easier for you. To start, make sure that you have "Stock Photography" at the top selected, then drag and drop your photos into the gray box that says "Drop Files Here."
Your photos will begin to upload. Please wait until all of the photos have finished uploading before continuing.
Once all of your photos have finished uploading, check your agreement to the Terms and complete the captcha.
If everything is good to go, click "Submit Product(s)". A loading screen will appear and the message will appear similar to the one below. If an error message appears, simply reload the page and try again.
Submitting General Templates and "Anything Else"
The process for submitting products that are not stock photographs to Coded is slightly more intensive and requires some preparation. Before continuing please make sure that you have:
- Prepared retina-ready thumbnails for your product in accordance with our Product Branding Best Practices.
- Taken screenshots of your product to be included on the product page.
- Prepared documentation (written or visual) on how to edit your template.
- Ownership of copyright to sell, distribute, and share the work that you are submitting to Coded.
Before beginning, make sure that "Anything Else" is selected at the top of the Add a New Product page in the Coded Developers dashboard.
Fill out the basic information about your template. This includes a title, tagline, category, and subcategory. Please take a moment to browse the category and subcategory options to select the category and subcategory that best matches your template.
Next, add tags to your product. If you are uploading a minimal WordPress theme for creative agencies, you may want to tag your product with "minimal", "wordpress", "agency", "creative" or similar phrases. When you hit the comma comma (,) key on your keyboard or click "Add Tag", the tag will be added. Simply click the tag to remove it.
Next, write a product description that describes the features of your template. As you write or when you add a new tag, the SEO Scorecard will automatically update. For help writing a search-friendly product description, please see Optimize your Product for Search.
In the Product Branding portion of the form, you can add your prepared thumbnails. For help preparing good product thumbnails, please see Product Branding Best Practices. The required sizes are:
- 360px × 230px @2x
- 290px × 224px @2x
- 750px ×430px @2x
- 100px × 100p @2x
Drag and drop your thumbnail files into their respective gray box.
After you've submitted your thumbnails, you will be able to upload your actual template, documentation, and screenshots. Your Full Product Package should be a .ZIP archive with your documentation, licenses, and template files organized properly inside. Max file size is 5Gb.
Your documentation file should be a globally accessible file type such as .PDF, .TXT, .HTML, or .RTF. Documentation should explain how to easily edit your template. In your documentation, provide screenshots and instructions so that the customer is less likely to require additional support using the product.
Please note that a thumbnail only appears in the uploader for image files.
Your screenshots should show the best spreads of your print template, the best layouts of your WordPress themes, the beauty shot of your 3D model, etc. This is a great opportunity to gain the customer's interest and show the features of your product.
A Preview URL is required for WordPress themes, website templates, Squarespace and Shopify templates, and Virtual Reality environments. If your use a Preview URL for your template, consider using the 750px × 430px Product Page Header for more promotional purposes. Coded does not host demo websites. You will need to host your own demo during the life of your product. For hosting recommendations, please see the Resources page in the Coded Developers dashboard. Please add the full URL of your preview site.
Competitor URLs should be added if you are currently selling your template on other marketplaces. This is just for Team Coded and will not be shared with the public. We ask for the locations where your template is currently being sold so that we can keep our pricing competitive.
After your files, documentation, screenshots, preview URL, and competitor URLs have been added, you can add a good Meta Description for your product. This will appear in search results on Google.
Then drag and drop your OpenGraph snippet into box. Your OpenGraph snippet should be 1200px × 630px @2x. This will appear on Facebook and other social networks with customers share a link to your product.
Select a price for your product. For prices over $5 USD, Coded uses a price optimization model. For more information, see Price Optimization Model.
Finally, check that you agree to the terms and complete the captcha. A loading screen will appear and a message box will show if your submission was added successfully.
After you have submitted your product, Team Coded will review your submission and respond within 3-5 business days.
